CHEPSTOW Seconds finished their Gwent Bowls League campaign with a win over neighbours Caldicot.

The visitors were already champions but put the icing on the cake by taking all the points with both an overall victory and wins on each of the three rinks.

Chepstow won eight, drew one and lost three matches this season to end 22 points ahead of runners-up Bedwas and Trethomas.

The defeat meant Caldicot finished bottom, two points behind sixth-placed Blackwood.

It has been a good season for Chepstow with the firsts winning eights of their 13 matches to finish fourth in the Monmouthshire Bowls Association League.

The over-60s team are currently second in the Newport League with 13 wins from 17 and the club also has a triples rink in the East Mon finals at Abergavenny later this month.

The ladies won their section of the South Wales and Monmouthshire League and had semi finalists in the county pairs and rinks and semi finalists in the Welsh Double Rinks competition.x

Mike Dick and Rosemary Allen are the club champions and the season concludes with triples over the next fortnight.

The club’s presentation evening takes place at Chepstow Athletic Club on Friday, September 22.
