NEWENT dressage champion Charlotte Dujardin is hoping she will take the crown for The Sunday Times and Sky Sports Sportswoman of the Year for the second year running.

The 30-year-old faces stiff competition as she is up against 2012 winner, athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill.

She will find out this Friday (November 6) if she has won during a live broadcast on Sky Sports 1 at 9.30pm.

The awards, in association with Vitality, is in its 28th year and recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution to sport made by elite performers, coaches, administrators, community volunteers and inspirational women.

Charlotte won two gold medals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and was in top form at the 2013 European Dressage Championships in Denmark, as she picked up three medals. She hopes for similar success at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The evening will also reveal the winners of the Young Sportswoman of the Year, Community award, Vitality Team of the Year, Disability Sportswoman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award and the Helen Rollason Award for Inspiration.

Neville Koopowitz, Vitality Chief Executive Officer, said: “Congratulations to all those shortlisted. They are all fantastic role models who are inspiring people to get involved in sport and live a healthy life. We look forward to celebrating their achievements.”
