--------

A DERBY win over Forest neighbours Lydney put some daylight between Lydbrook and the relegation spots in Division Two of the Northern Senior League.

English Bicknor also did Athletic a favour by handing out a 7-0 thrashing away at bottom but one side Winchcombe.

Lydbrook are now five points clear of the Cotswold outfit after their 4-2 away triumph – having downed Winchcombe 3-1 the previous week.

Lydney Reserves stay in 11th, two above Lydbrook.

Lydbrook’s scorers were Aidam Creighton, Jack Halson, Lee Morton and Josh Wallis.

Daryl Addis picked up the player of the match accolade for English Bicknor as he scored a double hat-trick at Winchcombe.

The other goal came from the vistors’ captain George Selwyn-James and Bicknor remain in fifth place.

Leaders Woolaston are now 14 points clear of second-placed Cheltenham Civil Service after a 3-2 home win against Smiths Athletic.

The Woolaston goals came from Adam Giles, Daniel Lloyd Saunders and substitute David Ashley Palmer.

The win also means that the Tewkesbury side remain in 12th place, between Lydney and Lydbrook.

The other Forest side in the division, Whitecroft, also recorded a win, beating Barnwood United 2-1.

Joel Middens and Finnan Maguire-Hamnlett found the net for the home side and the win brings the village side to within a point of the promotion places.
