FJ Pope Cup Second Round

Yorkley 2-4 Ellwood Reserves

ELLWOOD Reserves came back from two goals down to book their place in the third rund of the North Glouceestershire League’s FJ Pope Cup.

Holders Yorkley went in front with first half goals from Daunte Davis and Lee Channer.

In a hard-fought game in difficult conditions, the visitors reduced the deficit towards the end of the first half.

Ellwood, who are currently top of the North Gloucestershire second division, scored three unanswered goals after the break.

Kieron Dawson scored two of Ellwood’s goals with the others both coming from substitutes – Sam Blake and Liam Saunders.

In the quarter final Ellwood will face Blakeney who had already booked their place with an 8-0 win over Harrow Hill A.

In Saturday’s other second round matches there were wins for Lydney Town B and Mitcheldean Reserves.

Lydney Town B won 2-6 at Rank Outsiders Reserves while Mitcheldean Reserves are in the quarter finals courtesy of a 1-4 victory at Tidenham Reserves.

Mitcheldean Reserves face a trip to Soudley who previously beat Staunton and Corse 3-2.

Lydney Town B have a last eight game at St Briavels who beat Viney Hill Reserves 9-1 in the last round.

The last side in the quarter finals will be decided on Saturday when Redmarley Reserves host Sling.
