A DEVELOPMENT programme drawn up by Gloucester Rugby Academy is to open in Drybrook at the end of the month.
The scheme is aimed at promoting and coaching girls and women’s rugby at grass routes level.
The girls don’t need to have previous rugby experience, just a willingness to get involved.
The programme, devised by the academy’s Neil McCarthy, Kevin Mannion, Alex Guest and Robin Eager, will focus on core skills, movement patterns, behavioral awareness and the fundamental principles of play. All abilities will be catered for and there is no charge for the course.
The opening at Drybrook Rugby Club on February 24 is open to all girls aged between 13 and 18.
On site there will be a dedicated coaching team including many from Drybrook Rugby Club and the development center’s manager Kirsty Fido.
Registration for the first session is at 6.30pm to 7 pm and the sessions will continue every Friday evening until March 17.
