CHEPSTOW-based Kestrel Gymnasts had very good results in their first South East Wales Gymspire competition, with the under-eights winning team bronze.

Eva Lawn became vault champion with special awards to Elsie-Mae Williams on vault, Freya Hines on floor and sixth place ribbon on trampette, sixth place ribbon to Martha Jones-Dekerf on vault, and Megan Kear sixth place ribbon on floor and overall bronze medal.

All did well in other age groups with Fay Russell awarded fifth ribbon on vault in under-10s section. In the under-12 girls’ section Annie Selwyn finished sixth place ribbon on vault and fifth on the floor and overall fifth.  

The over-12 gymnasts kept the pace going with team members Daisy Machard and Florence winning team bronze together with Tom Hook who became vault champion, and fourth overall, Cora Chisholm won silver on vault and silver overall. 

A clean sweep for the under-12 boys saw Dovydas Zagorskis win silver on vault and trampette, gold on floor and become overall champion while Finley Stenner won gold on vault and trampette, silver on floor and silver overall.

James Davies took fourth place ribbon on vault, bronze on trampette, floor and bronze medal overall, Mackenzie Thornton won bronze on vault, and fourth place ribbons on trampette, floor and overall.

Cora, Annie, Tom, Dovydas, Finley, James and Mackenzie are now through to the Welsh Gymspire Championships at the end of the month, and are working hard to stay at the top.
