FIVE young gymnasts came back to the Forest with two medals from the A Star Gymnastics Championships in Bristol.

The girls – who are members of the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club – scored well in apparatus.

Competing in a group of 35 gymnasts from across the south west, nine-year-old Maisie Edwards won the silver medal on asymmetric bars in the Level 5 competition with a confident and dynamic routine. Maisie also came a creditable ninth place on vault.

Lily Brain, aged 12, won her silver medal on vault and came fifth on floor, in the level 4 competition.

For two of the gymnasts, Violet Williams and Charlotte Cottrell, it was their first regional level competition, both competing at Level 5. Both competed well and Charlotte achieved 15th place out of 35 on vault.

Grace Treharne, competing at level 4, showed experience and confidence with her best piece being beam where she was placed sixth. Grace also performed a strong, well-flighted vault.

The girls will be out in action again soon representing the club in the West Country League final in Wiltshire.
