EIGHT members
of Newent runners crossed the border on Sunday to compete in the Cardiff half-marathon.
Ruth Hayden-Cox was first home in 1hr 50mins 52secs, despite suffering with a head cold. She was followed by Jonathan Miles in 1hr 56mins 45secs, Karen Johnson who completed the course in 2hrs 06mins 05secs and Lisa Mansfield who ran it in 2hrs 17mins 49secs. Becky Musgrove’s time was 2hrs 25mins 27secs, Jo White came in at 2hrs 25mins 45secs, while Clive Jones ran it in 2hrs 34mins 32secs and Karen Apted registered a time of 2hrs 43 mins 28secs.
Meanwhile Chris Barber of Newent Runners completed the gruelling 17.5 mile South West Coast Path Challenge trail, running it in 5hrs 33mins 37secs. He camped the night before ready for an early start, running from Mill Bay, East Portlemouth to Little Dartmouth.
