FOREST of Dean Athletic Club (FODAC) members raced in three separate events last month.

The club sent runners to compete in the London Marathon this year. Spokesperson Chris Moore says: “Our small but intrepid team were greeted them with generally clear and dry conditions. Some tough running ensued but all were successful and achieved some fantastic times as well as raising a large amount of money for charity.”

Marathon times were: were John Russell 2hr 56min 03secs, Julian Boon 3hr 18min 46secs, Michael Marks 4hr 05min 31secs, Kate Burke 4hr 11min 02secs, Rachel Nash 4hr 11min 16secs, Simon Harding 4hr 46min 51secs.

Nearer home, Offa’s ‘Orror is a 20km multi-terrain race on and around Offa’s Dyke in the Wye Valley, close to the village of Tintern

Chris says: “If you prefer your races to be characterful and challenging then Offa’s Orror is for you. It’s hilly. It’s muddy. It’s tough. And it’s located in wonderful countryside.”

Offa’s ‘Orror winner was Daniel Bodman in a new record time of 1hr 19min 29secs.  FODAC member results were: Dan Sandford 1hr 31min 33secs, Helen Brown 1hr 39min 42secs, Mark Matthews 1hr 42min 47secs, Jim Storrar 1hr 54min 6secs, Fiona Turner 1hr 56min 29secs, Graham James 1hr 58min 12secs, David Jenkins 2hr 15min 33secs, Jacqui Wynds 2hr 15min 57secs, Deborah White 2hr 39min 43secs.  Fiona and Jacqui were both second in their age categories.
