A YOUNG Sedbury side is making its mark having crossed over to senior football – and the border.

Many of the team played together as juniors at Garden City in Chepstow and have been brought over to Sedbury by Jamie Goddard who trained them at the Chepstow club.

Any worries that the move up the age range would be difficult have been dispelled in the opening part of the season with the side now having scored a total of 20 in two games – 10 in each.

Jamie said: “It’s a new side with a mixture of young and more experienced players.

“The younger players were at Garden City where I trained them and I’ve brought them across to Sedbury.”

The win away at the Mitcheldean-based Outsiders was something of a family affair with Jamie leading the scoring with four and his son Luka getting a hat-trick.

Sam Hope-Bell got two and a goal for Josh Parsons completed the scoring for Sedbury.

James Risbey got a second-half consolation for the home side.

Jamie said: “It was a lovely pitch to play on and really suited our pace and style.”
