Ellwood Reserves 3-0 Yorkley

ELLWOOD Reserves kept their four-point lead at the top of North Gloucestershire Division Two with a win over a strong Yorkley side.

The home side secured their third league win in a row with goals from Sam Blake, Chris Davies and Josh Sladen.

Ellwood went into the break a goal to the good but put the game beyond the visitors with two second half goals.

The team has been transformed by new manager Jason Saunders who has brought in a number of fresh players.

Second-placed Staunton and Corse Reserves kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 2-1 win at Bream Amts Reserves, and although four points behind Ellwood, they have two games in hand.

Mushet and Coalway United Reserves hit three without reply away to Redbrook Rovers Reserves, with Liam Jones scoring twice and Marcus Partridge also finding the net.

There were six goals at Ruardean Hill Rangers A who shared the points with Longhope thanks to a 3-3 draw.

Kieran Lilley hit two for the hosts and Ryan Shinners one, while Steve Clark, Stephen Kittner and substitute James Barnes were on target for the visitors.

In the only other league game on Saturday, the bottom two clubs drew 1-1.

Rank Outsiders met Whitecroft A in the second round of the Geo Sandoe Cup and emerged 3-2 winners to book a quarter-final against Mitcheldean.
