MITCHELDEAN dropped league points for the first time this season – but are still undefeated in the division for almost a year.

The home side took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal by Damon Beaumont but an own goal from a corner denied them a 13th straight win and gave the visitors a deserved point.

The draw was enough to edge closer to leaders Redbrook Rovers who went down to a 0-3 defeat at home to Ellwood.

Mitcheldean have seven games in hand over the leaders – the result of a series of postponed ties in the County Cup – and eight over second-placed Yorkley who did not play this weekend.

Another eight victories should be enough to make last year’s runners-up the 2015-16 champions – but there is, inevitably, a fixtures pile-up.

Manager Andre Titmus said: “We’ve got five games in seven days now and we know what we have to do but we have a good squad of players.”

In the division’s other games this weekend, fifth-placed Whitecroft thumped Blakeney 13-2, Coleford United beat Huntley 4-0, Bream had a 4-1 win over Broadwell while fourth-placed Soudley drew 1-1 with Westbury.
