Lydbrook Athletic Reserves 5 - 1 Bream Amateurs Reserves
--------
BREAM Amateurs were presented with new shirts by sponsors before Saturday’s games but the celebrations did not continue onto the pitch.
The seconds travelled to Lydbrook where they were beaten 5-1 in the second division of the North Gloucestershire League while the senior side went down 0-4 at home to Slimbridge in the Gloucestershire Association Cup.
Club chairman Jon Graham said the club was grateful to the new sponsors, McGirr Contractors who are supporting the firsts, Blind Tech for the seconds and training tops sponsors Transporterland.
He added: “On the pitch we’ve not had the best of starts – probably the worst on record for the club in the league.
“We are missing several key players and, with a real bit of bad luck, we have lost both our first and second team keepers.
“To compound things both are out with long term injuries.
“On a plus note, we have finally been given planning permission to construct a new pitch on the site of our former pitch at Bream Sports Club.”
Both the firsts and reserves are still looking for their opening wins of the 2015-16 campaign.
At Lydbrook, Chris Barnett grabbed a consolation goal while, for the home side, Curtis Whatley got two and there was one each for Ryan Hall, Jamie Jenkins and Josh Wallis.
