NEWENT climbed three places to eighth in the Northern Senior League Division One with this Forest derby win.

Harrow Hill, who had started the day in seventh, fell to 11th as the visitors earned an emphatic victory.

Newent’s goals came from Zachery Blood, Thomas Eyres, Callum Gardner-Wilce and Carl Thorp.

It was Newent’s first win since they thumped Southside Star 2-8 on November 12 but it was the home side’s first league defeat in three games.

League leaders Ruar­dean Hill Rangers are four points clear despite not having a game last weekend.

The Forest side has three games in hand over second-placed Cam Bulldogs and a commanding goal difference – 48 compared with four.

Rangers also remain unbeaten this season, dropping just four points in 13 games with two draws.
