Herefordshire County League Division Two
Ross Juniors 0-8 Newent Town
-----
IT took Newent three games in the Herefordshire League to record their first win – but what a performance.
The Forest side crossed the border after being excluded from the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League last month for allegedly not playing their strongest side, a charge the club strongly denied.
But on Saturday they showed what they are capable of against a strong Ross side – going 0-3 up within five minutes.
Manager Wayne Good-
child, in charge of his second game for Town, said: “It was great to see us playing the way we know we are capable of.
“Last week we drew with the leaders Belmont Wanderers and their manager said we would give someone a hiding – we just didn’t think it would be the following week against Ross.
“Ross are a good side but we controlled the game through Wallace and Jamlin in midfield.
“Our three strikers all scored and our ‘keeper had three touches all game.”
Newent were able to use their five substitutes to good effect with rolling changes keeping up the pressure.
Dorian Collins scored a hat-trick and there was one each for Luke Cunnigham, Dan Allard, Cosmin Micula, Jack Morgan and Josh Higgs.
