PARKEND II v NEWNHAM

PARKEND posted a challenging target for visiting Newnham who then set about their task with gusto.

But with the game nicely poised the British weather intervened with a deluge that forced the game to be abandoned.

The home side were 250 all out and with the league leaders passing the 50 mark in eight overs it was set to be a tight finish.

There were only two games finished on Saturday and both were played outside of the Forest.

Unfortunately for Newnham, one of those games featured Aston Ingham whose win over Woodpeckers of Gloucester saw them reduce the points deficit to just two points.

It was also disappointing for the home side who are in fourth place in the league.

There has been some success for Parkend this season thanks to its strong junior section with the under-15s reaching the semi-final of the County Cup.
