Gloucestershire County League Division One

Ruardean Hill Rangers 4-0 Broadwell Amateurs

------

THERE was little Christmas cheer for Broadwell when they travelled to Ruardean Hill Rangers on Boxing Day.

In front of a festive crowd of more than 200, Rangers put four unanswered goals past their Forest rivals with both sides missing County League regulars.

The home side were in front after just four minutes of the game when Shaun Tingle shot home from a tight angle after being put through by Luke Johnson.

Johnson got on the scoresheet himself when he converted a cross from Luke Brown after 17 minutes to double the hosts’ lead.

With 10 minutes of the half to go, Johnson appeared to have doubled his personal tally only for the goal to be ruled out for off-side.

Ruardean went into the break 2-0 up, and looked well set to add to their tally in the second half.

And the third goal came five minutes after the restart, with Johnson and Brown swapping the roles they had taken for the second.

Brown combined with Johnson to send the ball down the wing with the former connecting with his team-mate’s cross to score from 25 yards.

The final goal came following a brilliant run by Stuart Cornwell who rounded several defenders before his shot was deflected in by a Broadwell defender.

Broadwell almost got onto the scoresheet with some 20 minutes to go, but Guy Jones’ header was well saved.

On Saturday Johnson and Brown scored again as Rangers beat Henbury 2-1 away.

And Broadwell got back to winning ways to beat Southmead 4-2.
