Drybrook II 19-22 Cleve United

DRYBROOK Seconds were pipped in a very competitive game despite the atrocious conditions.

Although the heavy pitch might favour a forward-dominated game, the backs saw plenty of action with the ball moving through the hands.

Drybrook’s first try came from a well-executed move of several phases with Simon Rugman touching down in the corner.

Despite that the visitors from Bristol went into the break with a 12-8 advantage.

The Foresters continued to pile on the pressure in the second half but Cleve extended their lead to 22-5.

Drybrook mounted a comeback with Ashley Jennings getting five points from a quick tap penalty which was converted by Andy Milner.

A converted try by Connor Hale reduced the deficit to three points but although Drybrook continued to press they could not find the crucial score.

Drybrook skipper Milner said: “It was a really good game between two quite young sides and there was a lot of ball going through the hands.”
