Geo Sandoe Cup Quarter-Final

Blakeney 2-1 Tidenham

-------

KIERAN James scored twice as the home side came from behind to secure a place in the North Gloucestershire League’s Geo Sandoe Cup last four.

The two first division sides tried to play attacking football despite the driving rain and heavy conditions.

Kieran’s two strikes ‘christened’ the two new goals, which have been donated by local lighting contractors W&N Adams.

Wayne and Nick Adams – who are both former Blakeney players – have also sponsored the side’s new kit, while the club is also grateful to haulage company BH Cecil who have sponsored new tracksuits.

The visitors took the lead after 20 minutes with Tom Penny curling the ball into the net from the right-hand side of the box.

But Blakeney were back on even terms after 37 minutes when James got behind the defence to stroke the ball past the keeper.

The ball was in the Tidenham net again midway through the second half, but it was ruled out, only for James to break the deadlock with the winner a few minutes later.

First division Mitcheldean booked their semi-final place with a 7-1 thumping of second division Rank Outsiders, and will face Blakeney in the last four.

Westbury United Reserves beat Broadwell A 3-1, and will take on Woolaston Reserves, who smashed Milkwall 7-0 on January 19, in the other semi-final.
