Whitehouse Press North Gloucestershire League Premier Division

Viney St Swithins 3-1 Westbury Utd

---

VINEY St Swithins chalked up their first victory since November when fellow strugglers Westbury visited on Saturday afternoon.

The win means that second-from-bottom Viney reduced the points gap from seven to four – the same margin that separates them from bottom club Ruardean Hill Rangers.

Viney have been on the wrong end of some canings in recent weeks but were able to welcome back some senior players and new signing Stuart Maxwell.

Goals from Brad Morgan, Tom Pass and Josh Matthews sealed the win, with Greg Artus scoring in reply for Westbury.

The club is now looking for a ‘high calibre’ new manager “who will help restore the club back to former glories.”

Elsewhere in the division, Broadwell Reserves knocked Redbrook Rovers off top spot with a 2-1 win against Yorkley.

The Wye Valley were in Gloucestershire Junior Cup action at Whitecroft and went down 4-2.

In Saturday’s only other Premier division game, Howle Hill beat Bream Amts 8-5.
