Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two
Whitecroft 2-3 Lydbrook
SECOND-placed Whitecroft lost ground to leaders Woolaston, as bottom club Lydbrook came from behind to take the three points.
The shock win lifted Lydbrook to 13th in Division Two of the Northern Senior League.
The visitors had to come from behind after conceding a first-half penalty, but Kristian Milnes soon had them on equal terms.
Aidan Creighton then put Lydbrook in front, only for the hosts to level before the break.
But Tom Biddle stunned Whitecroft with the winner late in the second half to earn Lydbrook only their second win of the season.
Lydbrook assistant manager Justin Tapfield said: “Whitecroft are a big side and we expected them to come out strongly in the second but we held our own.”
Whitecroft’s scorers were Joel Giddins and Kai Hayes.
It was just the tonic they needed after squandering a 3-0 lead to eventually share the points with Abbeymead the week before.
Leaders Woolaston extended their lead over Whitecroft to five points with a 1-0 win at third-placed Cheltenham Civil Service. Sam Rushworth got the goal.
The other Forest sides in the division, English Bicknor and Lydney Town Reserves each picked up a point with draws on Saturday.
Bicknor drew 1-1 at Charlton Kings side Falcons to stay in ninth while Lydney had the same scoreline at Bibury and are in 10th.
