AROUND 150 players helped raise £6,000 for charity at an annual charity golf event.

The 13th Dave Roberts Memorial Charity Golf Day raised the cash for Great Oaks Hospice at Coleford’s Forest Hills course.

Team winners at the Friday, April 21 event were Steve Gray, Roger Hall, Paul Hedges and Will Gray with a score of 102.

Team runners up were John Powell, Ken Ellway, Alan McLean and Melvin Jones with a score of 96.

Individual winner was Alan McLean with Scott Kilmer runner up, while Corinne Clark took the ladies’ crown and Steve Gray, Ted Amos and Steve Cox won the ‘nearest the pin’ trophies.

Jenny Roberts, of Great Oaks, said: "Playing a game of golf on an excellent course and then enjoying a delicious carvery with your friends afterwards is thanks to the wonderful team at Forest Hills Golf Club, and I would like to thank them all for the outstanding support they have given over the past 13 years.

“Special thanks must also go to Keith Bell from the KW Bell Group whose outstanding support of the Dave Roberts Golf Day has enabled considerable donations to be made to various local charities.”
