A GYMNASTIC club’s youngsters turned on the class to score a 100 per cent pass rate at the latest grading competition.

The girls from Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club attended the South West National Development Programme grades in Wiltshire, with all earning ‘Commended’ status, and Eden Addis just narrowly missing a ‘Distinction’.

Alexis Green, who travels from Huntley to train at the Five Acres-based club three times a week, started the day off well on floor in Grade 5 where there were 60 competitors.

Despite the very early morning start she competed well having a steady competition all round, and was delighted to be awarded ‘Commended’ in her first grades competition.

Eden Addis, Mya Woodward and Daisy Middleton competed in Grade 4 in the second round, where youngsters start at Grade 6 and progress to Grade 1.

Starting on floor with 56 competitors in the group, all the Forest girls looked confident and elegant, and scored well on every piece.

Top achievements were eighth place for Daisy on beam where she completed all her skills safely and scored 12.00. Eden achieved 19th place on floor in a very strong field, scored 12.00 on bars and came 19th overall.

Mya scored an excellent 12.25 on bars and 12.55 on vault and was delighted with this.

The girls’ coach Lynn Hammersley said: “I am very proud of them all, they have worked so hard for this and really deserve their ‘Commended’ certificates.”
