THE county Men's Gymnastics Apparatus Championships saw the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club win six medals, two of them gold, and gain two new county champions, Ben Ford and Josh Cooper.
The club's boys competed in both the six-piece apparatus competition and the floor and vault at the Gymnastics Centre at Five Acres.
Josh Cooper, 14, became the under-14 County Apparatus Champion attaining the highest overall score of the day, 74.40. Josh who is the club's most senior squad gymnast, excelled on high bar with 13.40 and on vault with 13.20. He also performed well on Parallel bars, 12.60 and a good pommel routine gained 12.75.
In the under-12 apparatus section Ryan Cooper won the silver medal and Sam Cooper bronze in a group of seven gymnasts from all over Gloucestershire. Ryan's well flighted Tsukahara vault was the highest scoring vault of the day, earning 13.55.
The juniors also did well although they didn't win a medal in the six-piece. Iwan Scrivens came fourth in the under-8s, Spencer Hill seventh, Toby Taylor ninth and Thomas Randal tenth.
In the floor and vault competition Ben Ford became the under-8 County Champion almost three whole marks ahead of the silver medallist, Thomas Payne from Fromeside.
Sam Stockton won silver in the under-10s and Bailey Nash just missed out on a medal in fourth place. Cellan Long also did well particularly on vault and, again, just missed a medal 0.5 behind the bronze medallist.
