IT was a golden day for Kestrel gymnasts as they turned on the style at the Welsh National Gymspire Championships in Ebbw Vale, with several medal-winning and ribbon performances.

The Chepstow-based club’s Tom Hook was on excellent form in the 13-plus mixed section, winning overall gold after triumphing on the floor, trampette and vault, and making it a high five of gold medals as a member of the South-East’s championship-winning team.

James Davies, Finley Stenner and Evan Thomason were also on the gold standard for the South East region, taking the 11 to 12 team title.

Finley was also crowned overall 11-12 champion after winning silver on floor, trampette, and vault.

James took the bronze medal on floor and trampette, and fourth place ribbon on vault and overall, while Evan landed bronze on vault and fifth on floor and overall.

Clare John entered as an individual entry and was very pleased with her performance, winning silver on vault, bronze on trampette and sixth place overall.
