ONE of the Forest's newest football teams got off to a flying start with a win in this friendly.

Mile End FC was set up by friends Lee James and Darren Creed and will compete this season in division four North Gloucestershire League.

Lee, who is also the side's manager, said: "It's been two years in the making but now we are up and running.

"Credit has to go to Roger James who stepped in as club secretary at the last minute."

The club currently trains between 6pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday evenings at Clearwell Recreation Ground and welcomes new players.

Two first-half headers from Tom Wareham and a tap-in from Phillip Powell put Mile End in control against Viney Hill.

Viney Hill came back strongly in the second half and dominated for long periods but could only pull back one goal.
