MORE than 250 boys and girls took part in Caerwent football club's third annual tournament.
The friendly tournament has become a curtain-raiser to the East Gwent junior league season.
Teams from Chepstow Town, Garden City, Sudbrook Cricket Club, Thornwell, Undy, Monmouth and Pontypool joined the hosts.
Matches between teams at under-eight, under-nine, under-10 and under-11 were played over 12 minutes.
The games were also watched by a scout from Cardiff City Football Club hoping to spot the next Craig Bellamy or Aaron Ramsey.
Caerwent FC chairman, Mr Ian Trigg, said: "The day was a complete success with approximately 250 children, boys and girls playing and all receiving football medals at the end of the day's play.
"There was a high standard of football played by all teams in a sporting and respectful manner.
"I'd like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers that helped make the day very enjoyable for all the children."
