BREAM junior rugby's under-eights have won the county plate trophy just two seasons after the club was formed.

The win is the top achievement for the club which has teams at under-seven, under-eight and under-nine playing most Sundays.

In the group stage of the plate competition Bream won two, drew one and lost one of their four games meaning they narrowly missed out on progressing to the county cup quarter-finals.

As runners-up in their group they went into the last eight of the county plate where they drew Lydney.

With Forest pride at stake there was a exciting and tense game which Bream won by three tries to two with Bailey Brooks getting two scores and one from Ryan Kantorowicz.

Bailey and Ryan were again the scoresheet in a close semi-final against Minchinhampton which Bream won by six tries to five.

Bailey scored three tries, Ryan got two and the scoring was completed by Tillie Westwood.

In the final, the Forest side faced the well-organised Bredon Star team and with full-time approaching after an end-to-end game, it was all square at six tries apiece.

But with legs tiring it was Bream who found the extra gear to run in two tries to Bredon's one for the Foresters to win eight-seven.

Bailey Brooks got another hat-trick, Tillie Westwood got two and there was one each for Jayden Hardy, Ben Harrington and Ryan Kantorowicz.

The junior section hopes to keep on growing and anyone interested in playing, helping or sponsoring the club should contact the club on 562320 or Lee Timmins on 07850 863 046.
