LYDNEY players represented Gloucester in the Rugby Premiership Festival.

The five local players were selected for the squad and travelled to Bristol where they played against Bath, London Irish and Saracens.

Lydney under-16s coach, Nick Bartlett said: “The boys had three games at the festival which included teams from Wasps, Harlequins, Bath, Saracens, Bristol, London Irish, Exeter Chief’s and Gloucester. The boys had a convincing win over Bath and Saracens, losing by one try to London Irish.

“The boys have been involved with the excellent Gloucester set up for a few years now and this was the first time they all played together.

“They have all been selected to join the under-16s for the forthcoming season where they will be put through there paces working on their rugby skills along with their strength and conditioning.”
