TWO girls from a Cinderford school have been selected to represent the South West of England at rugby.

Elle Jay Browning and Charlie Manns, of Forest High School, have demonstrated a great attitude in transferring the successes of county representative rugby by being two of seven girls selected to trial for the South West.

Having represented Gloucestershire at several games and tournaments over the last few months, the duo were ecstatic to have been chosen to trial. Their ecstasy turned to shock when they were informed that they had been one of 28 girls selected out of the 57 that trialled.

The pair are now looking forward to the South West of England experience that will consist of three matches over the forthcoming months. They will also undertake team bonding sessions at an army camp in Dorset.

Elle Jay said: “It was a pleasure to represent Gloucestershire county girls under-15s. We are both so excited to be going forward to better ourselves in a regional set up. I hope this is just the start to what will be great opportunities.”

Head of PE, Mark Hopkins added: “The PE department would like to wish them all the best with this experience as it is fully deserved and is a true recognition of all the hard work and commitment they have shown to representing themselves in girls’ rugby.
