IN traditional fashion, the team representing the village pub – the Nag's Head – lifted the trophy at the end of Yorkley Cricket Club's annual family fun day played at the Cut and Fry on Sunday.
The nine-a-side knock-out competition involved the teams playing each other in a five, eight ball over format.
A team short at start time proved no problem.
Host club Yorkley Star had 18 players on call and simply put all the names in a hat – the first nine out becoming the Nag's Head.
"It was an enjoyable day with some exciting games," said Yorkley captain Tom Worgan. Over the course of the day he reckoned around 200 people enjoyed the occasion.
The Nag's Head team won through to the final in which they met and defeated Tintern.
"It was a bit of a travesty really as Tintern were the best side and won both the batting and bowling awards. But perhaps I'm biased because I had to play for Yorkley and we finished last." said Worgan.
The batting award went to Tintern's Geraint Reynolds and the bowling award to Dan Risk.
