THE Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club has gained another county champion after one of its gymnasts won the Gloucestershire Floor and Vault Championships.

Ten-year-old Spencer Hill, of Cinderford, impressed judges with a well flighted handspring vault which gave him a score of 11.05 and contributed to his overall score of 22.65. He was closely followed up on the podium by Toby Taylor, who took silver with his score of 22.05 after excelling on vault to win the apparatus.

Meanwhile, Drybrook gymnast Ryan Shinners who was competing in the under 14s competition, delivered a fantastic floor win. Despite a good warm up on vault, Ryan's plans for completing his new Tsukahara vault took a dive on landing giving him an overall score of 12.05 and put him out of the medals.

The club hosted the competition and had 41 boys from Gloucestershire and Bristol take part.
