LYDNEY welcomed their neighbours from Forest Hills Golf Club for the the second leg of the 2022 Steve Briscoe Memorial Trophy.
In the opener, Lydney captain Chris Aldridge and Rob Hulme took on the challenge of Terry Davies and Gary French, and after a hard fought encounter, the Hills boys won 3 & 2.
In the second match, the visitors stretched their lead, as Tom Bath and Mark Lightbound lost 4 & 3, against John Humphries and Darren Page.
The deficit was reduced in the third match, as Ben Roberts and Adam Slee, beat Geoff Pearson and Ady Brown 5 & 4.
Next up, Lionel Bath and Hugh Aldridge failed to win a hole, as they lost 3 & 2, against Will Birch and Geoff Norris, with Will in particular playing very well.
The penultimate encounter, produced the closest result on the day, as Mark Robinson and Graham Stanley came in with a well earned half against Alan Edwards and Stu Mudway.
The last match out on the course, saw the home pair of Ali Frazer-Holland and Simon Wakeham defeat the visiting pair of Ashley James and Connor Mullen, 5 & 4.
The visitors also won the spot prizes as Terry Davies was nearest-the-pin on the fourth, and Darren Page, was neares in two, on the 10th.
Following the first leg result, that saw Forest Hills bringing a three-point advantage to the Naas Lane course, the second leg result of Lydney 2.5-3.5 Forest Hills meant that the overall result was Lydney 4-8 Forest Hills and saw the trophy travel back to Mile End.
