A YOUNG golfer from Joys Green is one to watch in the golfing world.

Ten-year-old, Oliver Moss, has qualified for the final of the Welsh Mini Masters Golf Tournament which is to be held at Celtic Manor Golf Resort on October 29.

Oliver, who is a pupil at Osbaston Church in Wales School, in Monmouth, won the 10-11 year age group qualifying round at Virginia Park Golf Club in Caerphilly on August 2 and was placed second – on count back - in the South Wales Regional Final held at the Glyn Abbey Club, near Kidwelly, on August 28.

Proud grandfather, Geoffrey Moss said: "It goes without saying just how proud we are of Oliver. He has only been playing for six years and has already achieved a great deal. He has been a member of the St Pierre Marriott since the age of five and has been taking part in competitions held across Wales.

"The winners from each competition are entered into a qualifier and two golfers from this were sent to play at Kidwelly. He was a joint winner but on count back he was placed second and qualifed for the Welsh Mini Masters Final. It's an exciting time for him."
